The taste of tropical collaboration would even beat beamy summer heat.July 7th is “Tanabata”, one of the 5 seasonal related celebrations of a year in Japan. It is also called star festival and people decorate bamboos with 5 colors of “Tanzaku”, the oblong cards. Those 5 colors represent the 5 basic elements that make up the world in the ancient Chinese philosophy as blue: wood, red: fire, yellow: earth, white: metal and black: water. There are some romantic stories related to the night of Tanabata such as the rain is tears of Orihime or the cloud is their cover to hide from the crowd. Though it would be rainy or cloudy, they would get to see each other for certain in the sky. On earth, how will you spend the special night?

7月の季節のカヌレは「仏ゲランド産塩」と「ココパッション」が、本日7月1日(金)よりお目見えです。「仏ゲランド産塩」は夏の塩シリーズ第一弾、”海の果実”と呼ばれるゲランド産塩を使った塩生地のカヌレです。まるみのあるしょっぱさが甘さを引き立て、爽やかな余韻が広がります。「ココパッション」はココナッツ生地にパッションフルーツのジャムをのせました。南国感あふれるコラボレーションが、夏の暑さを吹き飛ばしてくれる一品です。もうすぐ七夕です。星祭とも呼ばれる7月7日は五節句のひとつで、短冊を結んだ竹や笹が飾られる風景は、夏の風物詩となっています。願い事を書く短冊の5色の色には意味があり、古代中国の「木、火、土、金、水の五つの要素が、この世のものすべての根源である」という陰陽五行説に由来しており、「木=青・火=赤・ 土=黄・金=白・水=黒」を表しているそうです。七夕に雨が降るのは、彦星に会えた嬉しさに織姫が流す涙と言われていたり、曇るのは会えた2人が周囲に見られないように隠れてしまうなど、ロマンチックなお話があります。雨でも曇っても2人が会えるのは確かなこと、私たちも地上で素敵な七夕を過ごしたいものです。
