It is already the very last month of 2020. Mido-suji street, the symbolic street of Osaka is lit up for the holiday season till December 31st and it is as if every light warms people’s hearts who pass the street. We see Christmas trees everywhere around this time of year but do you know that December 7th is the day of the Christmas tree? It is set because the very first Christmas tree in Japan was decorated on December 7th, 1886 in Yokohama. The fact that fir trees are used for christmas trees, each ornament such as stars, bells, socks and angels have meaning which all relates to happiness. We decorate some fave that we found in the flea market in France at our Canelés-Doh, Sakuragawa branch. Please come by and find a little christmas tree that is even smaller than our canelés. Our pair of seasonal canelés for this month, “Meli-melo” and “Coconuts Chocolat” are available from 1st of December. Meli-melo canelés are named after a French word meaning mishmash in English. It is very flavorful and rich with various fruits preserved in rum on top. Coconuts chocolat canelés are baked with dark chocolate inside of the chocolat dough and decorated with white ganache and coconuts powder. Please enjoy the taste contrast of its bitterness and sweetness.
