A Happy New Year! The New Year has come. In Japanese, the 1st of January is called “Gan-Jitsu” and its morning is called “Gan-Tan”. The letter of “Tan” is from the picture of the sun rising from the horizon and has the meaning of starting. There is a saying that goes “The whole year’s plans should be made on New Year’s Day” meaning it is good to set New Year’s resolutions on the day or it is important to plan or prepare ahead when one starts something. From these beliefs, we can sense that Japanese people have cherished a start or a begging very importantly. It can be an exciting way to spend the morning of New Year’s Day wondering how to plan the year ahead. Our pair of seasonal canelés for this month, “Yuzu” and ”Marron Chocolat” are available from the 7th of January. Yuzu canelés are with Japanese yuzu in the dough, decorated with fondant made from yuzu juice and yuzu peel on top. The refreshing smell and the sourness of Yuzu might recharge you. Marron chocolat canelés are with chestnut paste inside of the chocolate dough. They are decorated with chocolate ganache and gold dust sprinkled on top. Please enjoy the deep flavorful chocolate taste. We are open from Tuesday January 7th for the New Year. We will sincerely wait for your visit at our shops at CANELÉ du JAPON: Sakuragawa, Nagahoribashi and CANELÉ du JAPON doudou.
