Les canelés de saison | “Ananas” et “Noix de Coco”

August 1st is the day of fireworks. During the second world war fireworks were banned, but on this day in 1948 that ban was lifted. It is also the day for a well known fireworks festival, ‘PL Art of Fireworks’ held in Tomitabayashi city in Oasaka. It brings the full impact for a finale with about 8000 fireworks ablaze in the sky. Many fireworks are being held all over Japan from July to August. Breathtaking fireworks on summer night sky might let you forget the hotness of summer days. Our pair of seasonal canelés for this month, “Coconuts” and “Pineapple” are available from tomorrow, August 2nd. Coconuts canelés are inspired by summer beaches with plentiful roasted coconuts mixed in the dough and sprinkled on top. Pineapple canelés have dried pineapples covered by white sweet bean paste inside, dolled up with homemade fresh pineapple jam on top. This tropical, summery canelé brings out with the sweet, sour taste of pineapple.
