August 1st is the day of fireworks. During the second world war fireworks were banned, but on this day in 1948 that ban was lifted. It is also the day for a well known fireworks festival, ‘PL Art of Fireworks’ held in Tomitabayashi city in Oasaka. It brings the full impact for a finale with about 8000 fireworks ablaze in the sky. Many fireworks are being held all over Japan from July to August. Breathtaking fireworks on summer night sky might let you forget the hotness of summer days. Our pair of seasonal canelés for this month, “Coconuts” and “Pineapple” are available from tomorrow, August 2nd. Coconuts canelés are inspired by summer beaches with plentiful roasted coconuts mixed in the dough and sprinkled on top. Pineapple canelés have dried pineapples covered by white sweet bean paste inside, dolled up with homemade fresh pineapple jam on top. 8月1日は花火の日です。日本では戦時中花火が禁止されていた時期があり、1948年の今日解禁されました。また、大阪府富田林市で行われる教祖祭PL花火芸術の開催日でもあります。フィナーレには約8000発の花火が一気に打ち上げられるため、空が花火で明るくなるほど、圧巻の迫力です。日本では7月から8月にかけて、各地で花火大会が開催されています。夏の夜空に打ち上がる花火は、連日の猛暑をひととき忘れさせてくれるかもしれません。8月の季節のカヌレは「ココナッツ」と「パイナップル」が、明日8月2日(木)よりお目見えです。「ココナッツ」は生地にローストしたココナッツをふんだんに入れ、仕上げにココナッツをまぶした夏の海を想わせる一品です。「パイナップル」はドライパインを白あんで包んだものを中に入れ、生のパイナップルからつくった自家製のジャムをのせました。パイナップルの甘酸っぱさが引き立つ、トロピカルな真夏のカヌレです。
